Starting from the bronze Colossus of Heraclius, a symbol of Barletta adjacent to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, we will explore the oldest and most fascinating streets of the city.
Transfer on foot to the nearby 12th-century Cathedral in Apulian Romanesque style with a 13th-century Gothic extension. External explanation of the Barletta Castle, a 16th-century bastioned fortress, formerly known as Frederick's Castle.
A stroll along the walls will lead us to Porta Marina, the only remaining gateway among the ancient city gates, and to the Cantina della Sfida where the significant knightly episode of February 13, 1503, and its patriotic echo in Massimo D’Azeglio's famous 19th-century novel will be recounted. We will continue to Palazzo Della Marra to admire the Lecce Baroque decorations of this open-air museum, home to the municipal art gallery of the impressionist De Nittis.
Tasting of local products.
This experience will be enriched by the discovery of a new way of conducting guided tours. We will showcase the symbolic monument of Barletta, Eraclius, in a completely new light, thanks to the use of augmented reality. A novelty not to be missed.
